Breaking Bipolar Wins a Web Health Award - Thank-You

May 19, 2011 Natasha Tracy

If you follow me here, or particularly elsewhere, you might have noticed there are some very vocal people who hate me. Mental illness is contentious, and some people take it to a personal level. That’s people for you.

Sometimes I talk about these people. I call them “the nasties.”

But today is not about them. Today is about celebrating all the wonderful, amazing people who support me, Breaking Bipolar and the mental health community in general.

Breaking Bipolar Wins a Web Health Award

This is the second time Breaking Bipolar has won a Web Health Award in the blogs category. Web Health Awards are given based on quality of content and use experience. These awards are designed to recognize credible, complete and clear content. (And things that don’t start with the letter ‘c’ too.)

CB063448Thank-You to the Readers

Writers don’t exist without readers and while I’m pretty sure HealthyPlace would support me even if I only had five readers (they’re like that) I’m lucky enough to have thousands of readers every month. That’s thousands of thank-yous to give out. I’m honored that you find my writing something you wish to come to again and again.

Thank-You for the Kind Words

There are many wonderful readers who send kind words to me here and in other avenues of my writing. These people have taken the time to tell me I’ve helped them, or they’ve learned something, they appreciate my writing or many other kind things.

(And know if you’re a reader and not a commenter, that’s perfectly OK too. Sometimes people think kind words. I can tell.)

While I understand this is self-aggrandizement, I’d like to share a few recent comments my ego has enjoyed this month:

No one should ever feel pressured to write these types of comments, but I want all of you to know, I appreciate your words and your support. When the keyboard feels cold, or the nasties come out in full force, your comments warm me, protect me and remind me why I do this.

Thank-you.

More HealthyPlace Web Health Awards

Check out Angela Lackey’s Surviving ED blog and Angela McClanahan’s Life with Bob blog who also received awards in the blogs category. HealthyPlace won three additional awards for their radio show, psychological tests and overall web site. See the complete list of winners here.

My thanks also goes out to HealthyPlace and their staff. I believe these people do what they do not just for money, but to help people. They are genuine and supportive and I appreciate being able to use their platform to speak. Thank-you.

Hi Sarah,
Thank-you. Of course, I appreciate your support.
To be clear, the readers didn't vote for me, it's a panels of doctors, nurses and other health-related professionals who make the determination.
I wanted to thank my readers because without them, there would be nothing to get an award for.
