An Artist Not A Doctor
Originally the purpose of this blog, "Creative Schizophrenia", was to create a new form of art, that had not previously been done before. To make a new style of writing based upon irrational thought rather than that of irrational emotions. To turn Schizophrenia into an art form. I never intended to be an advocate for people with Schizophrenia nor did I intend to offer support. That was more of an unintended side effect.
Many people have come to me for advice pertaining to treatment issues for this illness. That somehow I hold the key to their therapy and treatment. This couldn't be further from the truth. I am 100% medically unqualified to give out such advice to people, so it is probably better if you do not ask. The only advice I can give you is this: find a good doctor who knows how to effectively treat this illness.
Other people have criticized me for not treating Schizophrenia seriously enough, or even worse that I am a fraud, writing to get attention. Firstly I do understand that Schizophrenia is a serious disease, and that it has destroyed countless lives. I know this, and would never deny this fact. If you feel this blog is not supportive enough for these purposes, then you are right. It was never originally set up to be. There are other blogs that are much better at this.
Secondly Schizophrenia is admittedly one of many different diagnosis I have received over the years. I have a mix of issues, both physical and mental. I have been relatively free from symptoms for many years now thanks to medication and most of the experiences I speak of in my blog were from very long ago. For this reason, I think some people believe I am "faking" my illness.
There have been consequences to my personal life for my writings, both positive and negative. There are still people who are ignorant of Schizophrenia, and I have been targeted for ridicule and ostracism by these small number of people. At times these attacks do bother me, but not enough to make me stop writing about mental illness. Overall, however, people have been indifferent or positive towards my writings. I should not let a few ignorant people get to me, but sometimes they do.
If I have upset you with this blog, then perhaps you should find one that fits you better. This is not the most supportive or therapeutic blog. Artists don't give out therapy, thats what doctors do.

Hi Dan,
I have also been diagnosed with schizophrenia at the age of 21, but I have lived a more or less normal life since then, working for thirty years as an engineer in computing. It is possible that people won't believe that living more or less normally or recovering from schizophrenia is possible but that is only prejudices.
I have been in touch with Elyn Saks and her book about her terrible life should be read by all those who want to understand the illness from the Inside viewpoint. It is also a remarkable support for all those who fight this disease and who could gain confidence that all is never lost in life.
I hope my English is not so bad, I am not a native speaker.
Best,
Alain
This is another aspect of schizophrenia, as detrimental illnesses of personal, occupational and social integrity. On the other hand, this complex psychiatric entity seeks holistic treatment and multiplex management strategy. In the consequence, the therapeutic team consist of many professional and non professional workers. At any rate, clinical psychiatrists manage the treatment process of Schizophrenia. The crucial predictor for a psychiatrist is its ability to co-ordinate bio-psycho-social therapeutic approaches to patient with this longstanding psychosis. On the contrary, the professional work out of psychiatrist would reduced on the throbbing of patient with psychotropic remedies. The competent psychiatrist wouldn't allow this mediocre treatment of Schizophrenia.
