Staying hydrated is important to mental health. After a bout with dehydration, I wondered how staying hydrated could affect mental health. After researching the subject, I found that staying hydrated is important to mental health.
Hydration and Mental Health
According to an Australian study, there is a direct correlation between temperatures above 80 degrees and psychiatric hospital admissions (Heat Can Affect Psychiatric Patients). Other studies have found that aggression and the suicide rate increase with the temperature. When the temperature rises, so does our risk of dehydration--which has some psychiatric symptoms (Anxiety Treatment: Drink More Water, Less Caffeine).
