Self-Harm and Being Comfortable in the Skin You’re In: A Video Blog
Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve realized something very important. We’ve been told this over and over and even though I’ve heard it and attempted spread the word, just recently have I begun to listen. Especially during rough times, it’s crucial to keep a positive head on your shoulders.
It’s important to be comfortable with who are and the skin you’re wearing.
I’ve come to realize that if I’m not happy with who I am, I can’t move forward and be happy with other parts of my life. If I’m feeling insecure, it is hard to hide that when at work or at the gym. If I lack confidence, is it even worth going to an interview or going on a date?
What’s even more important is being proud of the person you are. If you are a recovering self-harmer, be proud of how far you’ve come. Find ways to celebrate your success and to continue celebrating that success into your future.
Don’t forget to celebrate the successes of others and feel for those struggling. Whether they are battling a mental illness or a death or a break-up, try to find a way to show them you care.
Try to be proud of the person you are and proud of those surrounding you. So there – try it.
